As a composer, drummer, arranger and teacher, Philippe Maniez has established himself in the past 10 years as an important voice on the international jazz scene.
A native Franco-American based in Paris, he has been a longtime partner
for musical forces Pablo Campos, Caloé, Fiona Monbet and more recently
Dexter Goldberg.
As an arranger, his recent list of commissions and programmes include
an impressive cast of today’s most far-reaching artists: Kurt Rosenwinkel, Becca Stevens, Veronica Swift, The Danish Radio Big Band, Fiona Monbet, Adrian Cox,
Edouard Pennes… all ranging from intimate programs with string quartet
to full-blown large ensembles, big bands and symphony orchestras.

As a leader, he released “Explode” in 2019 with his large ensemble “The Dedication
Big Band” following a 2-year residency in the legendary Paris club “Les Petits Joueurs”.

Since teaching arranging at the Didier Lockwood school of music from 2019 to 2023, Philippe has also developed pedagogical tools and workshops in
small band performance, large ensembles, and arranging for cross-genre ensembles. They have been taught both in France and in conservatories internationally.
